Introductions!
So once that was dealt with, Jessica (the program officer for YCI) met us and brought us to her house to figure out our schedules for the month.. I will have something at least once every day, usually twice, and sometimes three times a day.. weekends are off for the most part..our first expedition is going to be climbing the Ulurugu mountains(right outside morogoro) and we will go half way up which takes about 3 hours.. then on sunday we hope to go swimming! The weekend following, the Zanzi volunteers plan to visit us here and we will be going to Makumi national park and doing a safari!
After Jessica’s house we started off to the Faraja Trust Fund Shule (school) where Michelle and myself will be teaching twice a week (Mondays and Fridays) I was a little nervous, but the kids are hilarious and love mzungu’s (foreigners)..it will be a bit diffucult though because it is a classroom for maybe 30(max.) students and there is usually anywhere from 50-100 students at a time. Then we continued to the Faraja Head office and met some of the people in charge there.. Victor in particular, we will be meeting with him once a week to make sure everything is on track..also, Gina and I will be going there for 2 half days a week to help out with administrative stuff..our last stop was to a little cafe with relatively normal food AND TOILETS!!!!!!! it was heaven..i still have not quite got used to the squat toilets that are everywhere else..
From talking with Jessica we learned that we can buy material and take it to a tailor and get skirts made for us and bags, or anything if we choose to!! so all of us hope to get around to doing that tomorrow because that would be awesome:)….another side point.. we have been having issues with what to do with garbage.. because there is practically no such thing as a garbage bin or anything, even at the house.. we cant figure out where the family puts it.. but EVERYONE just puts their garbage on their front lawn and burns it.. even on the side walks people just make a pile and burn it..plastic included..so we were told that we can just bring whatever garbage we have made and throw it into someones pile.. its such a weird concept!
thats all for now..

I feel for you tuna. i have experienced the squatters..they bug lol
Well I guess it’s a good thing we got you that hot one piece bathing suit! Sounds like your having an awsome time, I’m so jealous your going on a safari! Miss you like crazy!
