In reply to Kerry. It was quite neat being in the fabric shop, even for me!! I don't actually know about any associated status/background with the material. I think what differs most in the colour/design is just style depending on where you live. Some places have brighter colours or wear the saree slightly differently. But I will have to ask your question because now I am curious!

Hey Katie – a fabric shop – now you really have my interest peaked 🙂 – being a very tactile person, I walk through every fabric shop touching the bolts of material – needless to say, if I like the feel, I buy a metre (yup whether I need it or not) – I’ll bet the cotton & silk is just beautiful and an amazing choice of colour – are the colours important to status/background, etc. when purchasing saree material?

Oh my goodness, the apple doesn’t fall far from the tree – both you & your Mom look so comfortable on the water – I find myself being envious of this weekend excursion – it is not in anyway a picture that I would have had of life in India – you are also increasing my geographic knowledge as I Google Map each place you mention – consider yourself hugged
